So.
We switched phone companies. And in the switch, the new guy came out and ran new wires and installed a new modem and reinstalled our old wireless router in the basement.
In the basement with the concrete walls on the opposite side of the adobe brick wall from my computer which sits in the corner on the far side of the house. Needless to say, the service has been a bit patchy. We're hoping that by moving the router upstairs it will quit cutting out on us mid-download.
Which means we're running new wire. Through my house that was built in 1903. With the solid adobe brick walls. Tons of fun, I know. Luckily, the half-basement is, like, totally unfinished and we can just slap the new wiring up across the whole length and all that is left is to drill a new hole from the food room...
straight up and over a teeny bit into my newly painted cabinets in the front room.
Whatever. No problem. Except that apparently there is a bermuda triangle somewhere in the middle there and when we shove the fish tape down the upstairs side,
(the view from just inside the holes in the cabinet, looking at the holes in the floorboards)
you can't find it from the basement, and when you try and shove it up from the basement, it kinda gets lost somewhere and this is what we end up with. My back side hanging out of the cabinet while my front side repeatedly thump thump thump thump thump thumps trying to get the fish tape to magically find its way to the basement before I start thump thump thumping my head on the wood.
We're up to 7 new holes drilled in the nether regions of my house, with no successful end in sight.

Hey look! There is "one end" in sight! Hee hee.
Yeah, Fred forbade me from posting his end. Not that I was going to, but just in case I was even thinking about it, I was not allowed.
Our house had the same Bermuda triangle problem when we set up our security system. After a day of the guy drilling holes in my wall, he gave up and put it somewhere else!
Hopefully, you have better luck!
