We finally had some nice weather this weekend. It was warm enough on Sunday that we could see about a foot and a half of grass on the side of the sidewalk coming out of church, and we walked down to the park and let the kids swing for 5 minutes until they froze. And then yesterday's forecast said we would get into the 50's so I sent the boys to school on their bikes. While we were waiting for them to get out of school, I actually felt the warmth of the sun. For the first time in months!! Believe it or not, I unzipped my coat (that almost doesn't zip over my belly anymore) and took off my gloves! Outdoors! I think I might become a sun worshiper. Is there a religion for that? You know, one that doesn't require you to sacrifice yourself to the raisin gods on a beach in Florida surrounded by old people in g-strings and speedos? Just give me a nice warm, green patch of grass and I won't move for an hour, two or three if I get to bring a book. I know I complain about the cold up here, but just thinking about Spring gives me hope to tough it out.
Oh, did I mention that when you sit on the couch for 6 months straight, riding a bike REALLY hurts your leg muscles? Or maybe it's that there are no muscles left and you have to pedal with sheer willpower. Either way, I'm glad I was riding with I because I'm not sure I could have kept up with Art and Bob. I'm definitely going to have to start over from scratch with my running!
