A fact I didn't know.

Did you know that the chicken pox virus is airborne?

I didn't.

Well, I didn't know until we took Ed to see the ENT at Primary's. (childrens medical center. with all the sick kids.) Now I know. We got the lecture. And 3 masks. One for me to show Ed how it's done, one for Ed to contain the chicken pox, and one for Ed that was actually his size to replace the one he barfed into because we forgot to give him his prevacid this morning. Fred was glad the barf was in the mask and not down the back of his neck.

And before you start flaming me for taking a contagious kid to the hospital and exposing all the immuno-compromised kids that hang out there, we weren't sure the rash was chicken pox (there were no scabs), we kept him on our lap the whole time, and used the fancy wipes to wipe down the toy he held in the waiting room. So there.

As soon as we left the hospital I got on the phone with my various siblings whose children may or may not have been exposed when we were all crammed in my parent's house for the wedding and got a bunch of answering machines. (apparently my sisters screen my calls because when I txted they txted right back. ahem.)

I fessed up to exposing 10 of the cousins and then called my brother.

My brother with 3 kids of his own.

My brother whose daughter got the spots 2 days before we left for home but we didn't know because he left her at home with her momma while we mudded his kitchen.

My brother whose daughter, if we do the contagion math, was contagious the day of the wedding.

When we were all hanging out at my parents' house.

Together.

With the airborne virus.

Oh man. Sorry. Hope he is doing okay. I haven't given Blair the chicken pox vaccine yet cause she got behind on her shots when she got Rosela at her 1 year check up. I think I may need to get on it.
is anyone still contagious? can we come over?
We've all been immunized and exposed many times over...you can definately still play with us!
You are clearly not at fault. It is just as well to get the suffering over with now, during the summer. I recommend popsicles.
The only reason I didn't answer the phone was I was eating dinner... Jacob was already done eating and I was just starting after breaking J's food apart for her. and I was going to eat my dinner...
