I'm in love with parchment paper. As in, completele, utterly, irreversibly, in love with it.
And no, not because Martha Stewart told me to be.
Even though technically that is where I first heard about the miraculous phenomenon that is not having to wash my cookie sheet each and every time I use it, I'd rather (insert embarrassing something here that i could do but won't because i can't think of one right now)(i lied. i'd rather pick my nose) pick my nose in public that use a nekked cookie sheet and then have to wash it.
Seriously, how great is parchment paper? Even if they DO make it a weird size so it stops 2" from the end of my pan and never tears off straight so I end up folding under the side, I still love it.
Case in point, I made biscuits last night for dinner and then put the pan right back in the cupboard. Last week I used the same pan for sugar cookies and then put it right back in the cupboard. I'm pretty sure it had been used before the sugar cookies without me washing it.
The only reason I have a cookie sheet in the dishwasher right now (I totally just did the dishes, can I have my chocolate now?) is because I used the last bit of parchment paper on last night's first pan of biscuits and had to use one nekked so I could just get them all cut and ready to go and clean up the mess on my table.
(I just had a lost-in-my-thoughts-moment where I was imagining what other genius uses we could use parchment paper for and somehow it got around to lining coffins with it so it would be easier to clean up for the next person. Seriously, where do these things come from?)
Anyhow, please don't leave, I promise not to bring up coffins anymore.
In conclusion, I love parchment paper. Amen.

If you love parchment paper, you'd also love silpat liners. Same thing, but reusable. I haven't washed a cookie sheet in years.
And don't forget to use parchment paper to pop cakes right out of their pan! Oh, and sit on a piece of parchment paper while going down a slide. Wheeeee. How about parchment in your cupboards so you never have to wipe them out.
Yeah - so, my Mum covered one of my school jotters in parchment paper. We ran out of cute wrapping paper, and so my french vocabulary jotter was covered in PP. And can I say? It protected my jotter better than the wrapping paper...
Does this mean my Mum was a genius, thrifty, mean, or too lazy to buy more wrapping paper?
shelly - can you just see it? all 9 of our kids running around the park trailing 4' long pieces of parchment paper? i remember having to sit on pillowcases to use the slides in mesa so we didn't burn blisters onto our legs. you know, back before child safety and dcfs and plastic slides.
claire - it depends, did it scar you for life or are you a more functional adult as a result?
Parchment and foil= I haven't washed pans or the crock pot in literally years. Love it.
My cookie sheets barely know the pleasure of a warm, soapy bath. And I'm glad I'm not the only one.
