And let me tell you, having absolutely no agenda does wonders for the soul. Sure, the upstairs is still half torn apart and items that were tagged for storage or donation are in a box next to my couch and the baby is only sleeping courtesy of a lavender bath and tylenol, but by golly, today was a good day.
We tried the brainstorming for activities again. No bowling was brought up this time, but climbing at the Quarry, movies at the Planetarium and a trip to the Dinosaur Museum were all pondered whilst we munched on cold cereal. The only problem is they all required money and we are currently saving our cash for tomorrow's shindig. Next best? A day trip to Ikea and Cabellas.
Honestly, what more could a girl ask for?
We made it out of Ikea with out spending a penny, and I may have found a desk that could work in my front room. You know, after I sell the current desk in the classifieds so I can afford the new desk. We made it into Cabellas without losing any children, then promptly lost the girl before we had even hit the fish tanks. She's good, I tell you. After walking up and down the front of the store hollering her name a few times, I finally got smart and headed back to The Mountain. Sure enough, she was just checking out the animals. (Ed was intimidated by the giganto fish, btw) And where was Fred? At the service desk where I sent him trying to remember what she was wearing. Kudos to the father that remembered she had on a brown skirt and stretchy pants.
Anyhow, then we hit Wallies for some emergency Tylenol/Ibuprofin for Ed's fever/fussiness/something-is-wrong-but-we-have-no-idea-what-and-no-one-is-open-to-take-him-in and to return some GAUDY Christmas paraphernalia we picked up last night and decided we don't want but guess what? They're not accepting seasonal returns. Just in case you were headed in and the girl at the door handing out return stickers gives you a sticker so you can stand in line for 15 minutes with a sick baby so the lady behind the counter can tell you they don't want it back. Don't bother.
And in other news, Art is almost halfway done with the book report that is due on Monday. Should be the first one of the school year that he will turn in on time.
Well, that's all I've got. I'm off to bed late. (i figured i would start the year off with a bang)
Here's hoping 2010 will be full of restful nights of sleep even if we get to bed late and are woken up atleast once, and hoping Ed gets over whatever he's got by the morning.
(a girl can dream, can't she???)
