I've done gone and earned another one. You know, the Domestic Wonder of the World Award.
Had my Easter shopping done 3 weeks ago. New dress shirts all around, plus a sleeveless dress with white undershirt to cover the shoulder nakedness for Dottie. Even sacrificed a new skirt for myself for the fiscal benefit of our budget. Purple, red, robin's egg blue, we're gonna Spring-Time-Fresh up the pew tomorrow.
And... I'm taking your advice and held the wordly Easter celebrations today so we can focus on the Savior tomorrow. Turned out to be a good idea, but probably not for the same reason that it was a good idea in your house. Passed out the new duds... and none of them fit. Chuck's sleeves were halfway to his elbows, Bob's was a smidgen too tight. The good news is that Dot's dress fit, but that was largely due to the fact that I made her try it on in the store when we bought it. Good thing, too, because she (a 2yo) ended up in a 4T dress.
Here's where it was a good idea to do the heathen celebrations today... we made an executive decision and gave Bob's shirt to Chuck, Art's shirt to Bob, and took a family outing to the Coat Factory to trade Chuck's shirt for one that would fit Art. If we had waited until the Sabbath to be heathens, we would have ended up looking like the Hillbillies in Pew 15.
But for now, it'll just be me in my raggedy old Last-Years-Fashions, because of my fiscal sacrifice, remember? Not that I didn't try to get myself a new skirt. I just couldn't find one that looked as cute on me as it did on the hanger. And wasn't hand-wash, because you know that thing is just getting thrown in the wash with the rest of the clothes.
See you tomorrow. I'll be the one with the shiny red-heads wearing the Baby Barf eau de toilette and Shoulder Smear creme de menthe on my Christmas Jacket.
Happy Easter, and all that!

Yeah. That was awesome. That last paragraph (not the one that says Happy Easter, the real last one) was just perfect.
And you know, it's probably better to be aware *before* buying a skirt whether or not it says hand-wash. Because I wouldn't even think about it and throw it in the rest and that would be a WASTE.
Good post. Good post.
