Be Warned, be Very Warned

When the Relief Society asks you to fill in as the teacher, be warned that it will serve a double purpose. Not only are they wanting you just to teach the lesson, they are also secretly interviewing you for other positions they may or may not have open.

.
Yup. You end up interviewing for positions you never knew you didn't want.
.
Luckily I got off easy. See, Wade tells me in Sunday School that the bishop wants to see me and my mind takes off and starts making stuff up, and some of it is likely enough to happen that it scares me. Cuz I know that permanent teaching position every 3rd Sunday is open. I know the RS Prez came up after the lesson I taught to get a better look at my "illustrations."
.
(Come to think of it, RS teacher might be nice change from Wolf Scout Leader, which I stink at because only one boy comes and it's really hard to get motivated to hang out with an 8 year old for an hour every week while your baby is fussing all over your lap and your 2yo thinks she's an 8yo boy. Never mind... forget I said anything even vaguely willing-like about teaching.)
.
She (the RS pres) liked my illustrations. And I (cut-and-paste) quote,

Seeing your clever artwork displayed during your lesson and hearing that you are "really good on the computer," you seemed like the right choice for all of us!

And by clever, this is what she was referring to:

Yup, I illustrated my lesson with stick figures. The lesson was on How to Behave in Sacrament. I had to lighten the mood somehow so they didn't all get mad at me for telling them they weren't supposed to wear flip flops to church.

.
So there you have it. You have all been warned. Show up to teach with stick figure drawings of old men sleeping in church, and you may just get yourself a new calling. And they don't release you from Wolf Leader just so you can make the bulletins for the Relief Society. I should know, I asked.

Well at least you only got called to do bulletins. With the great stick figures I can see why they called you; maybe they are hoping to liven RS up a bit.

HA HA. I would love to teach RS I was secretly hoping I would get that calling but now we are in primary. The drawings are great.

Hey, thanks for your visit to my blog. That is a great story ---you gotta know girl don't do anything WELL when it comes to substituting in church callings --just in case. I love those red headed kids!!!!
