Today Was a Good Day

We left the kiddos behind and spent the whole day together, just my man and I.

Technically, we had two different appointments five hours apart, an hour away from home, and it would have been a waste of finite resources to come home in between, so we hung out in the big city instead. With no kids. I like to think of it as voluntary time together because we like each other.

First was an appointment which we were 15 minutes late to because of the snow, just to find out that we were at the wrong building because they had moved but didn't call attention to the new address on the reminder postcard, and then it took us 15 minutes to find the new place and and extra five to find parking, so technically we were over half an hour late. They didn't seem to mind. Told us the same thing they told us last year, only with more people in the room this time. Sometimes it pays to have the strange symptoms that don't fit neatly into any category because it interests the medical nerds and they like to try and figure you out. Finished my magazine. Could have been worse.

Second was lunch at the Pi Pizzeria. Much circling the block debating if we could park in the 7-11 lot since we didn't have change for the meters. Down the steps to the Pi, order a Greek pizza (heaven) and some Mountain Dew, and draw houseplans on the napkins until I think we just may have decided to add onto the back of this house instead of moving. Maybe. For today. Unless we get a wicked offer on the house and find acreage I can't pass up. Or the city makes some unreasonable demands on us because we're in the historic district. So maybe we'll stay, but maybe not. I'll let you know. Oh, and there was talk of a possible outdoor only dog, but don't tell the kids. I'm not ready to commit yet.

Next was the Family History Library where I rediscovered my true calling in life. It has seriously been too long. I got giddy just driving down South Temple knowing that I would soon be scrolling through microfilms and discovering previously unknown names and birthdates of ancestors. Double super heavenly, with a totally on top. May have documented a few birthdates. I need to go back, and soon.

Last was research into something we may or may not invest in in the future but I won't share specifics yet because it would ruin the surprise. Let's just say it's big. Or will be. So exciting.

What a good day.

I love the family history library, too. I told my husband we are going to be old people missionaries there someday.

In the meantime, I do online indexing.

In July, you are going to be glad you don't live in Gilbert. But it sure is nice RIGHT NOW!
