Note to Self, a month late.

Do you ever scroll down your list of posts and find one that you wrote over a month ago and never posted? I guess it's just me, then. You don't mind if I post it now do you?

In the future, when you're painting a closet, start at the very back and work your way out instead of trying to lean over the wet shelf to get the back corner.

I painted my room today. I'm this close to having one more room crossed off my list as sale-able. Can't wait. Had a little mini nervous breakdown, though.

I thought I'd use the almost full gallon of paint I found in the basement to quick repaint the room since it's so much easier to just paint over the dirt and the pencil drawings than to try and wash them off (dear future buyer of my house, hereafter to be known as dfbomh: I only painted over the dirt because I heard it helps the new paint adhere to the old paint better, resulting in a better paint job. you're welcome)

And it's a tiny room (dfbomh: tiny = cozy and charming) so I figured the gallon I found would do fine. Save $25 and get rid of a can of paint clogging my stairwell at the same time. (I have a can for each step down to the basement) The patches we made to frame in the closet to hang the new bifold closet doors looks great. The dormer looks so much brighter now. The new door we hung took the paint nicely and looks so much better than the old pink one we ditched.

But about the time I got halfway around the room and painted the trim around the window, I started to regret the fresh coat of paint I put inside the closet. I was more than halfway through the gallon, and only halfway around the room, not including the ceiling.

I'm gonna be seriously ticked if I have to go buy another gallon of paint just to finish the room when I was trying not to spend any more money. Maybe it would have covered better if it hadn't been sitting in my basement for 9 years. (dfbomh: I only used the highest quality materials when getting this house ready to sell. This was top of the line, name brand Valspar paint 9 years ago and is guaranteed for atleast 15 years, in the can or on the wall, I'm sure)

I managed to make the last drops of paint last around the room, with the exception of the ceiling. Had a plan to just tape a line and paint the ceiling...

oh and the closet doors

and the baseboards on the south wall...

oh and the front of the built in drawers...

a slightly different shade of white that would perfectly complement the wall shade. (dfbomh: you would have thought it was oh, so classy and chic) And then Fred pointed out that while it is only a little (dfbomh: charming sloped attic) ceiling and a short stretch of baseboard and only four drawer fronts, put together I'm going to need a whole nother freaking can of paint.

I guess I'm headed to Lowe's to see if they can match a gallon of paint I bought there 9 years ago and hope it matches. (dfbomh: I'm sure it will look lovely)
(dfbomh: oh, and I left you a momento inside the closet wall....)

...and that's why I don't paint :)

Did they end up matching it? Did it look okay?

Don't go to Sunroc to match the paint! I asked them to match a beautiful green color block I had picked up from their store, and I ended up with the most nauseating shade of poop on my bedroom wall!!

Good luck on the painting. I'm sure it will look great!
