It was a dark and stormy night.
Ok, it was a beautiful fall afternoon, but just go along with me here. Dark and stormy. And we were stranded, across the murky waters from our safe haven (the van). All we wanted was to get back home to watch a movie, but the waters were raging and we were afraid we would drown.
Ashly and Monica braved the waters first, climbing onto a drifting log and paddling across, but the log was unsteady and they almost capsized. (btw, since when do 12yo girls get more cleavage than the 30yo mom of 5 kids????) Quickly Ashly paddled back to shore while Monica sunbathed.
We were about to give up and just walk around the puddle, when we heard it. A moaning, gurgling, horrifying sound coming from the water at our feet. In the flash of the lightning, we gasped as the sea monster rose up out of the water and tried to nibble our toes.
"Where's my Sobe??" they screamed in horror as they ran down the beach to escape the hideous sea monster. "Can I have a cookie, too?" Clearly, they were in shock so we medicated with prozac and chocolate wafers.
I love horror films. We may just brave another one next week, if it ever stops raining.
