Grass Clippings, and Why We Like Them

Call me a task master, mean mom, slave labor enthusiast, or just a mom who is desperately trying to instill a good work ethic in her kids.
And by the way, I don't mind being called mean. It just means I'm doing my job.
Last summer we finally thought that Art was old enough to mow the lawn with the self propelled mower. Saved me a bit of work, the three hours it takes to mow our lawn (totally worth it, by the way). This year, Bob got in on the action. He takes the self propelled and Art gets the one with the really big back wheels. If I'm lucky, Fred pulls out the weedeater and goes to town.

Me, I'm a bag-your-cuttings kind of girl, most days. It just looks neater. The only problem is that the boys are just barely getting the lawn mowed, and I'm afraid if I add the whole empty-the-bag-when-it-gets-full requirement, it might send them over the edge. So we mulch. With old, dull, rock chipped blades, and too-long-between-mowings grass. It works for me. I haven't had to mow once this year. I have "me time" instead. (translation: I clean the house while the boys are outside)

I'm glad they finally found a use for all that grass we have laying around. I was starting to feel bad for all the waste. We do like to be environmentally conscious, you know.

Marnie, I'm sorry for all the grass in your house, in the beds, on the couch. I promise I don't try to annoy you. My kids just seem to incite yours into mischief.

That video is so funny. Don't worry about the grass clippings in my house, it just goes along with all the other stuff that the kids track in. I wish our grass would get mowed as much as yours does. I have three guys that live in my house, you would think that one of them would mow it at leat once a week.

Ouch! That has got to be so itchy! Or does grass not itch other people?
