Holidays

It's nice to have a holiday that actually feels like a holiday. Well, to us atleast. We started out late because Fred turned off the heater (that turns on at 5am and blows 90% of its air into my room, roasting us out way too early in the morning) so we didn't get up until 8, including the kids because they were up until 10 last night. Then, we ate breakfast at the ridiculously late hour of 10, wandered outside at 11 to... wait for it... dig fence post holes and set the posts. We put up half a fence on our holiday. But we did have a picnic in the backyard, complete with strawberry shortcake, and after the Easter Bunny did yet more shopping (getting the boys new ties for Easter), we had Ramen noodles for our holiday dinner. At 7pm. Then we cleaned the living room. BUT, we're (I guess they, since i'm still cleaning) staying up late yet again to watch Mr. Magorium. AND, we all had ice cream. Which in itself is a treat, because I don't often share my ice cream. Those of you who have read Barefoot Heart (our bookclub book of the month), if you remember the scene at night when the mom stubs her toes and the son catches her with her dirty feet and the secret orange... that's me. Minus the dirty feet. I'm not sure if it's a mom thing, or a growing up in a house of so many people that after everyone gets there share, it's never quite enough to satisfy the craving. But either way, the treats seldom come out before bedtime. Because otherwise I'd have to share. Am I terribly selfish? So back to my original point, a picnic, a movie, and ice cream for everyone, what could be better on a holiday?

Hey the best treats come out after bed time. Which is when I eat the worst. I try to set a good example for my kids all day so they don't get tempted but at night I'm just pure evil. I made the mistake of going to the grocery store on a saturday night when I started my fast and came out with Jones soda, apple juice, a propel water, and a case of water. I think I was thirsty that night... Anyway it's not selfish you're just keeping the bad stuff away from your kids... right?
