Ode to Jenae

Ok, so it's not really an ode. Writing a poem just seems like too much work with a 18 month old with a fever that wakes up for 3 hours every night for the past 3 nights. But this post IS dedicated to Jenae, the friend I have probably known the longest in Utah, since she was my first visiting teacher when we moved into this house almost 7 years ago.

I was sitting on the couch the other day, probably the day after you left, and it hit me. You're really gone!! (For those of you that don't know, her husband got a new job and they moved away to California on the 4th) I guess it's one of those things where intellectually you know it's going to happen, but realistically you don't quite realize the repercussions of it until after it happens. So I sat here on Saturday and missed you. And then I thought of you again this morning when we woke up to 4 more inches of snow on top of the 4+ that we got last Saturday... Your house may smell like wet dog, but atleast you didn't have to shovel any snow this morning!! And it's still snowing. You should have seen it Saturday... We were putting up shelves in the shed out back and when I walked out to start moving boxes and make a space for the shelf, I walked across grass. When we came back in after installing the shelves and loading them with stuff, we walked through atleast 2 inches of snow. AND I WASN'T OUT THERE THAT LONG!! It came down fast and bummed me out because the last snow had just melted off from the rain that fell all night long. Don't get me wrong, it's very pretty and we need the moisture, but boy do I miss laying on the grass in the sunshine. Anyways, I just wanted you to know that I missed you and next time you move away I'll be sure to throw you a party.

Wow, thanks Shelane. I miss you too! I still can't believe we are here. Please come stay with us anytime. The drive isn't that bad, and I'd love to see you and your family!
